About The Art & Process of Lichen Grove

As a lyricist, I create rhythm, timing, and emotion—and I listen for how sound reflects my lyrical intention. That’s where this music begins.

Working with generative tools, I use natural language as a means of sonic creation: crafting prompts, shaping emotional tone, and iterating until the soundscape aligns with what I hear in the lyrics. It’s a deeply personal process—one of translation, discovery, and refinement.

Through this method, I don’t generate music passively—I compose through language, nudging the output incrementally toward something that resonates, both sonically and poetically. For me, it’s an emerging form of authorship that feels as intimate and intentional as songwriting has always been. As neither vocalist nor musician, I’m grateful for the tools & technologies that have allowed me to realize a 30+ year dream and bring my words to life in this way.

Turns out, language is the instrument I’ve always used—and the only one I ever needed. -LG
